Cthulhu Breaker Premiere!

Heya Folks!

For the first time ever I release a iteration of my very own game here at SoP! So it's a first time premiere right here and now! Smiling

Cthulhu Breaker is a pretty straight forward Breakout clone, takin' me back to the roots when I started out here at SoP and we were working on Time Breaker (then Spheroids).
I've worked on CB since I moved here to Gillhov, Jämtland about a month ago, feeling really good in my new place, and I think this is one of the reason that I've gotten this far with a project really.

This is as mentioned the first iteration of Cthulhu Breaker, I've not started putting in sound into it yet, and theres a lot of things that needs polish.
But all in all it's pretty playable at this stage! I'm pretty sure that there is a big pile of bugs hiding in it though, and I hope that the community can help out to report all problems encountered.

I got some weird bounces around the bricks corners sometimes. Also at one point when i hit the reddish metal-bally thing on the first level it kinda stuck and went along inside the bricks horizontally until it got out of it and continued normally.

Hobbe: It's great to be back

Hobbe: It's great to be back in action, and this being the first title I'm releasing here on SoP as a solo developer feels great!
I will put in more story to the game as it evolves, right now it's really in it's cradle but I'm hoping to make a nice and fun to play game in the end! Thanx for the Screen fix! I'm a bit green on the upload side hehe.

Benny: Thanx for the input! I think Tollur will help me some to solve the physics in the game, it's packed with bugs at this stage, and I must say that what I do with this game code wise is somewhat what a die hard programmer are doing with programmers art hehe, so I'll probably need a lot of guidance throughout the project!
Downloading Sense right now! Will be a blast to see how it looks these days, Think I've only played the first iteration as of now so I bet I'm in for some nice updates!

Heh i guess you're right about die hard programmers art. Just ask if you need programming pointers from anyone. I bet we'd all wanna help.

Bugger, I'm getting an

Bugger, I'm getting an unhandled Win32 exception when trying to start Sense Sad I'm getting TWTPB going so it can't be that I've got old Dx drivers can it?

Anyway, I'm looking into a Physics 2d engine solution right now for CB, but I need to get down n' dirty and learn it first, so I've created a little phys test arkanoid project on the side here, If it works out fine I might get a bit wilder with general brick shapes in CB and make it more dynamic, I really want a product that is a bit more than just an old arkanoid clone Smiling

Great work!

Tried it a little bit more this morning!

I found it very playable...

I saw a few collision glitches but they did not disrupt game play. maybe we can find some time this week to see if we can correct them?

I also took a powerup that gave me a weird description like "459" instead of a hint on what I received.

On the "cthulhu breaker" level the game crashed when I took a powerup.

I found another bug, after dragging the window to my other screen, I could not control the pad or fire the ball any more, I could control the mousepointer.

With a little less bugs, sounds and some particle effects this will be great!

Oh i haven't heard anyone

Oh i haven't heard anyone getting crashes when loading Sense. I think there's a log in the folder. Please start a new thread in the sense forum and we'll try to get to the bottom of it.

Ain't getting no log file in the Sense folder, now when you have a new Iteration coming up it might be best to wait, I'll try I5 as soon as it's available and then if the problem remains we can check into it!
