Ok... Day three went really fast... so fast I did not get the time to make a post before we had packed up our stuff for the evening. Day three was by far the best day. I don't know if it was that I had got used to the event or that the event had settled in from the initial hysteria. Also day three is said to be the best day. It all started with Microsoft doing an XNA lecture, coding a small game. Quite neat, after that they gave us 30 minutes to design a game that they later could implement in 60 minutes consisting of three elements. The winner got an XBox 360. I participated but did not win (my idea was a bit to large I think, and the winner was pong/duel with a small twist, kind of neat actually), however I did get a price as one of the better designs Then we watched some e-sports, really cool! We looked at the end of a wc3 fight and then WoW 3 on 3. The world champions (Mob Gaming / Turtle actually stayed at our hotel and we got to know them a little). Hard to understand but fun to watch. Intel then handed out lots of swag, I got my hands on an USB fan and a USB memory in the form of a bracelet. After that we chilled in the razor booth (they played really good techno), wathed the Intel QIV finals, that was really fun! On top of this I got to dance in the Intel commercial recording set up, and got my recording on an USB stick. Pretty neat! On top of this razer announced that they would give a keyboard, mouse and headset to the first ones that got to their booth and smashed their old ones. It took them a while to get the mouse, so I took the opportunity to rip out my newly bouth 100Sek mouse and pushed my way through the crowd and promptly stomped the little bugger into small pieces, I then got my 500Sek Razer DeathAdder mouse! Sweet! Then it was pretty much time to pack up and leave, oh... I also got my picture taken with a cool body painted boothbabe!
All in all I'm very happy to have gone to dreamhack! I had good company, made new friends and had a fun time. I have also revived the gamer inside, and rediscovered the fun of hardcore gaming! If I have the chance I will definitely go to the summer event! |
