There has been a lot of focus on the level editing abilites and I think I've got quite a lot done and you can really give the levels a lot of love

Not really, as far as I know.
My game will be a multiplayer world builder, (and in the future simulator with some living wildlife and evolving nature etc.)
I also aim to push the visuals quite a bit, using deferred shading for an unlimited amount of lights, and various configurable materials and effects.(glows, noise generated textures(maybe animated), particles etc.)
In short my game is all about being creative with your friends and creating something visually stunning.
I assume project L will put more effort into "traditional" game play mechanics, rather than the level editing.
On the other hand Project L's level editor might be so good it crushes my game anyway, in which case I have nothing

That part sounds good but what will the aim of the game be? Creating nice scenes for photos? Making machinima? Doesn't sound much like a game so far
As hobbes main goal with his game probably isn't world building, your editor probably beats his. The question is which will be more fun

Well, it really isn't a game
Well, it really isn't a game in the traditional sense. It's somewhere in between a level editor tool and a game.
Basically what I want is a place where people can build stuff together and watch interesting things happen, with effective tools, but without being cumbersome. I.e remove advanced tools a level editor might have, and instead make everything very intuitive.
The feeling I am looking for is similar to Little big planet level building.
I have vague plans of adding user created mini games. Like building a road, setting some points, and starting a race.
Like I said, It's a world building playground.
