SoPCON spawns a new game!

Hello all!

Here we are at SoPCON having a great time! Smiling

I have just released the first iteration of Sentry, an action/puzzle game where you try to navigate labyrinths filled with nasty aliens. The twist is that you don't have any weapons of your own, rather you have a number of sentry guns that you can move around to try to clear a path through the alien hordes. However, ammo is limited...

In this game it is possible (if you are logged in) to create your own levels for other people to play. In time there will of course be highscore lists for this, and possible also replay support if it fits the game (without giving away too many solutions...)

I hope you get a chance to try it out, and please give me feedback!

As I suspected this game

As I suspected this game feels quite a bit like Space Hulk. Maybe a bit too much because any suggestions that pop up in my mind lean towards their mechanics. Like having it turn based and limiting the amount of aliens that can spawn for each "nest".

Also it took me a while to figure out the control scheme. IS there any way to destroy the nests? What do you yellow buttons with footsteps on them do? I haven't been able to reach any.

Updates needed!

Thanks for playing!

Yeah, sorry about not documenting the controls! They are:

ARROWS = move
CTRL = flip door switch / reload sentry
SHIFT = drag sentry

The "yellow boxes with footsteps" are ammo boxes... Smiling They are for reloading your sentries when they get low on ammo.

No, you cannot destroy the nests.

As you may have seen (if you login on the hub) you can edit and upload your own maps. Highscores per map will of course be coming soon. My thinking is that you create maps and challenge your friends to beat your scores... Smiling

Also, some of the people here at SoPCON think there should be some kind of progression between levels. Perhaps you could play each author's/user's maps like a campaign. In that case there needs to be an editor for setting up the order of maps, and of course modes like "play this author's maps" and "time trial on all maps" etc...

I'm thinking repair kits for the sentries as well, but any other ideas are always welcome! Smiling
