Daily Development Progress Report

This topic is for reporting development progress, it can be used by anyone contributing to the project.
I will use it for programming progress, but feel free to post here if you upload a new version of your own levels.

Physics update

I have worked with the ball physics of the game since I got a few good testcases from our community level designers, thank you nino and tann for bringing this to my attention.

The ball could get stuck in the old implementation between a slope and a wall... the new implementation avoids this....

I have also removed the teleporter function if you link a teleport to itself.

I have also fixed the wrong images on the editing buttons.

An update is scheduled for release on the hUb on Friday.

Bug fixes

I have now found and resolved the high score bug, for some reason the high scores for some levels did not work... It was a stupid mix up between level number and score... Sad

Today I have started on the multi player message system. You will be able to comment your good and bad strikes...

I want two types of messages, regular chat and "vocal emotes" like Yey! and Doh!

Menues and curved tiles

I have started to think about the user interface and menus and they really look messy right now... to much info and to ugly....

I have made a small menu select level prototype and started to reorganize the menus in smaller pieces..

I have also implemented a curved tile-set, which will hopefully provide some fancier levels.

More work on the menus

Today I have worked some more on the menus and also introduced a friends-table so you can find your friends faster.

The emote panel can now be retracted... so it does not cover the entire screen all the time...

New version of minigolf has been released on the hUb

I just released the new version on the hUb, I have made a few more levels and a lot of small fixes!

Here are some ideas the next version:

  • Achievements and unlockables.
  • Hard mode
  • Better music and sounds
  • Render to texture
  • Teleporter symbols
  • Level and course names
  • Filter out nonfriends

Spell of play Avatars ingame

I have tested to download the player avatars from the spell of play site and use them inside Mini Golf Worlds.

I just download the image using the SoP-userid, inside the game I had to rescale them since DX prefers x^2 sized images and the images on sop are 85 * 85 pixels. Some details are lost in the down scaling to 64*64... I might consider up scaling the images instead...

Well it is quite nice to see my face ingame Smiling

Challenges in place

I have now implemented some parts of the challenges, you can play a level and if you are satisfied you can create a challenge from that play.

You can select challenges and try to break them...

I still have some work to do, so you can see your and others challenge history, and also some masking (so you don´t see all challenges all the time)

Ok another release! Well it

Ok another release!

Well it feels a bit unfinished (no shit)... but I have already got some good feedback from it... Releasing stuff is really good for motivation.

The new version has a lot of new things, the challenge mode for one and new menus...

I look forward to improving the game!

I replaced the awful font!

I have replaced the awful font in mini golf worlds with a standard font, it is not beatuiful but much easier to read... I have also attended to lots of small issues today...

The game is slowly becoming more and more stable, If you find any glitches please tell me!

I have worked with achievements today, so you can collect some achievements in mini golf, currently there are 4 kinds of achievements...

* Create a level, and upload it
* Create 10 challenges
* Break 10 challenges from other players
* Have 10 online records at the same time

Today I have implemented

Today I have implemented most of the online contests suggested...

In an online contest you have only one attempt to compete on a course of nine levels.

I think this will be a bit more exciting since you have to continue even if you make a bad move, in contrast to the other game modes where you have unlimited amounts of attempts...

It would be really cool to have some kind of price for each contest... initially I´m thinking of some kind of score for each contest.

More High scores

I made some small adjustments today:

I wanted to be able to see the high score table without playing through all the levels, so I added a button for it in the "Select Course" view.

I have also added a few more contests...

Mini golf server moved

Since tann will move to a new apartment, we moved mini golf temporarily to another server, it will probably be a bit sluggish on this one...

But when tann moves back it so will minigolf...

9 new Mini golf levels

I made a few hopefully a bit more challenging levels for you to practice on during X-mas!

The new levels must be unlocked before you can play on them and they are a bit weird...

New levels in the pipeline

Today I created a new course of 9 levels, you will get to see them in the next update, probably together with a contest.

I have also fixed a server side bug so the "Create Contest" button should be disabled if you already have a contest for that level.
