Hi all, I'm currently loving Roadclub - but I have a small niggle. The game seems to default to a weird, interlaced video resolution and I can't seem to find any option to change it. It's not a huge problem, but is there an option to change the display resolution? Am I being thick? thanks |

I also had a problem with screen resolution and mouse when playing the latest version of road club with two monitors. I could see the mouse on both screens and when I clicked inside roadclub, I also clicked on the other screen, and jumped out of the game...

Solid Core reply
Hi all,
Solid core dev Benny here. I'll try to address all your concerns.
did anyone of you try windowed mode? does that solve any of your problems?
gamewank: glad you like it! rest assured, you are not thick, the game is built towards a specific resolution (800x600) and it always changes to this and it can't be changed. (due to technical design decisions made back in 2001 when we built the engine and things were different...).
However it shouldnt be interlaced and should look good enough. Does your problem show up if you take a screenshot? (press F11 in-game and locate the screenshot in the roadclub directory, or use the regular print screen key and paste into your favourite image editing program).
We could look into this further if you sent us the log files located in the roadclub directory. (one log file is created per gaming session, and only five in total so try to find the right one or send all of them to us, contact@solidcore.se). Please include your video card if you know it and any screenshots too if they show the problem.
dntoll: We havent tested on two screens in a while unfortunately. the problems started in the 1.02 version? Did you describe all problems you had above? if you move the pointer from the second screen to the game screen, does it work normally then?
would you prefer if the game pointer was locked like before or that we use windows mouse position so you freely can move between windows and the game?

Hi I will do some more
Hi
I will do some more testing when I get my second screen working again...
I think the mouse should be locked in full screen mode, and maybe not be able to reach the other screen...
Daniel
that would be great

heh other users have wanted to be able to move the mouse to the other screen seamlessly. what to do

Well moving to the other
Well moving to the other screen would be nice if you could click there and not loose full screen...
yeah. dont know if its
yeah. dont know if its doable tho. and frankly i dont want to spend too much time on old projects if there isnt a huge demand. locking is good enough. people should be used enough to alt-tab.

Looks cool! Reminds me a bit
Looks cool! Reminds me a bit of Crimsonland and that's an excellent game
Some new game info...
yeah crimsonland is an inspiration (i know the man behind it quite well) but i wanted to do more with the concept and take it in another direction. make it a bit more adventureous but still keep it simple. i'm especially interested in adding enemies with different characteristics than just seek and shoot. still simple, but requiring different tactics (think zelda enemies, thats my mindset). also, different kinds of explosives will play a bigger part. which kinds are to be determined by testing. theres much fun to be had blowing up tons of mindless enemies (it will be colorful though, i'm sick of zombies and gray/brown gooey games).
i'll start with kind of a prologue game thats just survival mode on one or a few levels and a highscoretable (maybe through spell of play boards?) to have something to start from. and it will of course include physically interactiveness like our games usually do. how far we'll take it the first time around we'll see. i'm trying to keep it simple so it will get done. too bad i never really get to work on it.
oops, stole my own thread. its fun to talk about game ideas.

Back on topic - resolution issues makes it unplayable
Hi,
I purchased this game 2 days ago and am experiencing issues which seem to be linked to this thread so thought I'd post here.
I'll post a bug report afterwards.
I first played this game on Vista (SP1) dual-screen (laptop + CRT both @1024x768 but with laptop as extended desktop). The installer made the CRT flash every few seconds the succesful installation which forced an OS reboot.
Once in game, the in-game cursor was moving at half speed of the Windows cursor so clicking on anything right of the middle caused the game to minimise. After a few times, the game would just hang.
I tried single monitor display (still full-screen) on both the laptop and CRT. Both of these still display the cursor as a Windows cursor in the corners so need to move too far and then back again to avoid minimisation (they're still moving at different speeds in the background it seems).
Once I got a hang of keeping the invisble windows cursor within the boundaries of the window, the game would still minimise after each race, resulting in a hang if I went back and tried to click anything button.
This was also true if I solely used the keyboard before each race... a hang would generally occur after each race.
After reading this thread, I finally decided to use single CRT and change the res to 800x600 but the post-race hangs still occur as do the minimisations (although those are less frequent - the windows cursor *still* sometimes appears in the corners though which is weird).
Windows mode doesn't work at all as the windows cursor takes priority most of the time.
I hope this helps. I'll post a bug report above (all 5 sessions, though the last one closed normally).
Cheers,
Peter
Thanx for getting in touch!
Thanx for getting in touch! I be the solidcore crew is working like madmen to sort this issue out
Issues resolved as of version 1.03
We've released the 1.03 update which should cure most of the issues referred to in this thread. And as always its only a click away in hUb
Enjoy!
