Roadclub 1.04 is now also released on hub. This version fixes crashes caused by administrator rights required. Please let me know if you encounter any problems after updating. And.. enjoy the game! |

profile creation
Hello,
It's great to see that you guys updated and lowered the price of this excellent game. I wish and hope to see much more Roadclub gamers.
yesterday I have installed HUB and Roadclub on HUB. Today I updated Roadclub via HUB. Now I can't create a profile to play. It says "unable to create profile, either profile name already exsits or illegal character." What am I doing wrong ?
- I have Windows 7 Ultimate 64 Bit
- I already tried to give admin rights to both HUB and Game exe files.
- I used to have a standalone downloaded and unlocked version of Roadclub before (bought from spellofplay). I also deleted that version just in case of any confliction.
- I tried all upper case, all lower case profile names.
- I tried all different random names just in case if it's conflicting by my previous profiles.
thank you.
Hello, I'm sorry to hear the
Hello,
I'm sorry to hear the new version is giving you trouble. We'll do our best to fix this asap. We've seen that problem during testing, it shouldn't occur anymore though. In any case it is not due to how you write the name. It has to do with roadclub.ini and the paths there.
Important! This error has nothing to do with your profile, no need to delete your career! Hold on to the .rcp-file so you can continue where you left off when the error is fixed.
Could you please post the paths from roadclub.ini both from C:\Users\\AppData\Local\Roadclub and from your installation directory?
Did you play any 1.04 sessions before playing the hub version? The new version copies all previous info from the installation directory to the appdata directory (to prevent administrator issues). It should work if you delete everything from appdata\local\roadclub and make a clean install again as a temporary fix.
We'd need to know a timeline when you had which version on your computer and in which order you installed and played them to figure this out. Can you provide this info? Would be very helpful.
Thanks for your patience, and we're sorry for the inconvenience. Final testing didn't reveal this.

I only played Roadclub 1.03
I only played Roadclub 1.03 without using HUB.
As soon as I realised the 1.04 update, I tried to get it. And it required to install HUB. But even I installed HUB, it gave me 1.03 version. So I decided to wait 1 more day. Next day it auto update Roadclub to 1.04
While trying to make it worked I uninstalled both standalone and HUB version of Roadclubs and I only installed 1.04 Roadclub HUB version again.
so, timeline
- 1.03 standalone (worked fine)
- 1.03 HUB (profile error)
- 1.04 HUB Update (same profile error)
- uninstalled 1.03 standalone to fix the problem (didn't work)
- uninstalled 1.04 HUB
- reinstalled 1.04 HUB (didn't work)
(none of these attempts asked for activation key which I have used only 1 time while installing 1.03 standalone. This standalone is also spellofplay standalone, it just didn't use HUB)
My save files are gone but it's totally ok
This game is so good, so I am willing to start over. No problem at all.
Here is the ini files which you wanted to see.

solved
I have just deleted everything and made a clean install.
And it worked !
Thanks from dev team
Great to hear! somehow the old ini-file screwed it up for you, thats why it worked now. We'll have to look into how the version transition works in this case. thanks a lot for helping us narrow it down!

This is exactly what Spell

Kudos to both stonegolem for providing valuable feedback and to SolidBenny for improving roadclub!
BTW I'm having some thoughts of providing some "generic data storage" online via hUb fot things like user settings etc. Then you would not have to worry about these things anymore at all. This would be on a per game and user basis and would of course require gamers to log in via hUb to gain access to their data. Interesting?
Sounds like a great idea
Sounds like a great idea hObbE! Being able to store your save files online is great, especially if you are a person who uses both his computers and his laptops(like I do when traveling, which happens allot lately).
That would be great !
That would be great !
I don't know a lot about these kind of web oriented stuff. But I would really enjoy if player profiles can be stored as well. So we can show our car collection to our friends when we visit them. And as zapakitul said some of us need to use different computers alot and I want to keep my RoadClub game and profile wherever I go.
Userdata online ftw
Definitely a good idea. I've found myself missing savedata for games on the "wrong" computer loads of times. This is something we can make better than steam

Indeed I have missed this
Indeed I have missed this feature to. I will think some about it and we'll discuss potential problems and solutions and how this should be presented to the devs.
