Roadclub problems

Hey.. I can't start my engine in Roadclub. It says press return, and I do, but nothing happens and the game just keeps waiting for me to press return and there is nothing wrong with my keyboard so it must be something else?

Best regards,

Per

Hello Per! Have you changed

Hello Per!

Have you changed the mapping for engine start? Does it always happen? (I.e in both career/time trial/tutorial). Keyboard works fine in other menus?

Do you use the latest

Do you use the latest version? It is currently 1.03. If you play through hub it is always the latest.

minor problem

Hello,

I have a minor display problem. First of all this is not caused by the new patch. It was always there.

Sometimes trees and some other decals flickers during full screen game play. It doesn't happen everytime but it happens more if there are many trees on the screen. I couldn't figure it out. And also it doesn't happen on windowed mode. It looks like decals' refresh rate is different than the entire scene. If it happens on any race it is most visible when I press ECS and got the menu.

my system is an XPS M1730 Laptop

CPU:
Intel Core 2 DUo CPU T9500 @ 2.60 GHz

Ram:
4.00 GB

Display
2 x Nvidia GeForge 8700M GT (SLI Mode) + AGEIA PhysX 100
(I'm using 1920x1200 resolution) + (drivers updated)

OS:
widows 7 Uktimate (64 Bit)

Thank you.

re: minor problem

Weird i wrote a response yesterday. guess i never actually posted it Smiling

Thanks for your detailed report. We've seen something similar before, unfortunately we never managed to track down the cause.

At least i can let you know there's nothing you can do and it has nothing to do with your hardware. It has occurred randomly across many different platforms.

Interesting to hear that it is more visible when the menu is up. That is new information. If you find anything else that could help us narrow down the problem we'd appreciate it.

At this time I regret to tell you that we can't do anything other than take another look at the code. I hope it is playable anyway for the moment.

Thank you for your response.

Thank you for your response.

No problem at all,
I can easily play my game on windowed mode without any problem. And I'm having great fun !

Many years before there was a problem on some advanced graphic cards. They had problems when they needed to render 2D sprites over 3D scenes (such as HUD). At that time we had same flickering problems and/or blurred hud and menu on some games. This problem remind me those days.

I am aware that there are many graphic cards, many systems out there. It is almost impossible to optimize the game for every system. I thought maybe one user can find a solution for a similar problem and share it with us. So I decided to post it here.

Solution for Flickering !

Ok, I have realized that I could put more efford to solve this minor problem and I think I got it.

I have created a customized 3D settings especially for RoadClub on my NVIDIA Control panel. Instead of selecting "application controlled" settings, I have manually set everything (such as "vertical sync: force on"). Mostly I set everything to it's highest possible settings.

The Result ?
I have a bug-free and much better looking RoadClub game without any performance loss.

It's amazing to see a new mini detail whenever I play it.
This time I have realized the lightning effect when it rains! It looks really cool.

I want to say one more time... This game is excellent !

Thanks again! It's awesome

Thanks again! It's awesome to hear you notice these little things we thought would add dynamics to the game.

Very interesting. I still believe its a software issue, but if video card settings helps, that's great! Laughing out loud

It's so great hearing someone enjoying the game. After so many years of development we've mostly been rewarded with silence and ignoring Smiling

Indeed the road of indie

Indeed the road of indie game development is a hard and often lonely with little recognition of your hard efforts.

I find it really uplifting just to read your conversation!

Yeah this made my year

Yeah this made my year Smiling You're having great fun at times when developing but when you summarize it there's been lots of times you just had to power through when you had to do stuff to get somewhere that was really tough or just plain boring. When the game is done, getting good feedback and hearing that people noticed all the little things you added is really what's makes it all worth it. You can be happy and proud you accomplished and finished the game but hearing someone else enjoying the work is amazing. Starting february development on Sense will continue. I hope i can make something feature-complete available around july.
