I finally managed to get Rigid Body physics using ODE to work!

I've spent the last few days trying to get ODE working as I wanted, and I finally managed to do that. Here's a quick 'screen cast' from a test I just did using some spheres (about 600 of them):

I'm really quite pleased seeing this is the first time I actually got any kind of physics work right. Usually all I did was get Sliding collision to work, and then work my way up from that using a hell lot of "ifs".

Cool!

I remember I taught a course in real time physics programming a few years back and one experiment in the course was to use ODE. Most of the students had problems in grasping how ODE worked and it took quite some time for them to get it to work.

For some reason I find physics simulations to be so soothing to look at... wonder why...

Memories

Ah, this brings back memories. The labs, the games, the overweight gentlemen. I wonder if I managed to save that project, maybe I could post a vid of what hObbE had to put up with from us. =)

ODE had a steep learning curve, but once you got over the initial hump things got better. At least that was my experience.
