Just out of curiosity, what would it take for someone to have their game added to hUb? Solid Core have Roadclub on there and it would be interesting to know what kinds of demands you have. Or even if you would consider others adding their games to it. I noticed you use DirectX, is this a must for hUb games? Or could a game just as well use OpenGL on hUb? In fact, do any games use OpenGL on hUb? Anyway, I'm sure people in this forum want to make games. And some will be interested in distributing them this way. It would be good to hear your own thoughts on this matter. This thread is mainly for discussing though, you might want to add some form of guidelines/FAQ's etc. regarding this in the future. |

hObbE was more instrumental in getting RoadClub on hUb, but...
Step one would be to give us access to a game for review. It doesn't have to be finished or anything, otherwise we would be hypocrites
.
DX isn't a must. We have put some thought into how to make the installation procedure smooth for everyone (i.e. we force a DX install these days), but pretty much each game is responsible for itself. We don't really have a definitive be-all-end-all solution for this.
As I haven't coded any GL myself, I have no clue as to if there are things you need to install before GL games work.
I also suspect that Steam, for example, doesn't do any kind of "global" support for the system requirements of each game (the support forums seem to suggest this), but I'm not 100% sure.
So, bottom line, if you have a game that you want on hUb, let us take a look at it, and we'll take it from there!

We are definitely open to submissions
What I personally think is most important is commitment to the development of the game. This is what I saw in the solid core crew since we met on gamedev.
Other than that, send us your game (embryos)

Hehe, as usual I have a billion plans, but no work done. Story of my life.
I need someone to usher me on, mainly because I lack discipline. I really want to make something fun though.
But right now it feels like getting to when you start getting a game from nothing in C++/OpenGL takes so much effort, that I usually give up before I can see anything.
In the near future I'm contemplating some cell-phone games, mainly because I can get results fast. Also, I'm currently working as a Java dev and could use some extra practice.

Making a small java based game sounds like an exellent idea! Maybe an applet based game, could be nice to play in a browser

Wee! Applets rock! AstroCreeps was once an applet
Also, Daniel was insanely productive there for a while with Java Applets...
