New hUb UI

So what do you think about the new user interface in hUb?

nice. looks a bit more professional. still has a very underground feeling to it that might not suit everyone.

I kinda liked the one-click-approach of the previous design. make the games lines or some big part of it clickable for play and update like before (preferably a big nice play/update button to the left of the title/description) and have some nice smaller buttons with icons for homepage and uninstall somewhere else on the line. this way you combine the status and action button in a nice way.

well thats the first impressions.

btw scrollwheel-support is a must the more games you get. and you can't click the non-bar part of the scrollbar to take big steps.

minor details at the moment though.

You can double-click items in the list for the same functionality as in the old look.

hey.. this is my first post here Smiling Have been enjoing your games for some time now Smiling

To comment on the HUB, I acually liked the old one much better.
It might be me who get used to stuff very quickly, and dont like changes, but the size of the old hub made it more managable. I found it more intuitive that whenever I clicked the game I wanted to play, info on that specific game came up (I.e it needed an update, it was ready to play etc.)

Also, the small icons, really made it easy to manage the game, especially for my son who is 5 years old, and cannot read yet Smiling He does not know where to click anymore?

Hi Tabu

Welcome to the forums! Laughing out loud

We have talked about having multiple views (settings) for the hub, so you might (in a future version) be able to switch between a compact view and a more detailed one.

For the new view of the hub we will probably have a small image for each game.

It is great to get feedback on the hub! This will make it better!

Hey Tabu and welcome to the forums! I think I have seen you on the highscores Sticking out tongue

I agree that the size of the "old" hUb is "better" for some users and as Daniel said we will probably bring it back as an alternative view.

We'll keep refining it!

Thanx!

I have just worked some on the multi view hUb so you can switch between the original "slim mode" and the more user friendly "full mode".

I'm considering making the slim mode even slimmer. That is just the install, update and play functionality, no resizing buttons with descriptions, no uninstall, no homepage etc.

What do you think about that?

Try it!

Maybe also just have the games that are already installed in the slim mode...

Making the slim version even slimmer would be cool.. however, removing all functionallity I dont think is a good idea.. this would force people to switch between the two.. slimmer hUb is a good idea.. but I would make it so that on each game, you could "go advanced" and that slim part would extend and have the fuctionality needed. In the new hUb im not especially attracted to the play/install/homepage buttons beeing at the top for all games.. having them individually with each game, is in my oppinion better? So slim version with a "dropdown" on each game with advanced stuff would be my preference Smiling

On a sidenote, my son has now gotten used to the new hUb and can again start Ufo Pilot 2 without daddys help Laughing out loud

You are actually able to doubleclick in the list to perform the actions, so you don't have to go for the buttons if you don't want.

Thinking about it I agree that the slim hUb should have the same functionality if we opt to list all the games and not just the installed ones. Would it be good to use the slim version as a quick access to "my installed games"?

That is so cool! Hope that my boy will be as interested in games when he grows up!

Thanx for the comments!

yea.. maybe even make another list for games that are not installed? Kinda like a "store" button, I dont see it nessecary now.. but when you guys have created 500 diffrent cool games... it might be a bit crowded Smiling

Another thing I noticed is how the new hUb's default size cuts of the last game in the list.. and it does not remember when I resize it. It would be cool if it remembered where I placed it, and what size I wanted it in.

About my son... I has taken many years of hard pratice... Sentenses like: "No dinner before you have played your games!" and " No!!.. you cant go to bed before you completed that level!" really helps.. that, and I think that sitting on my lab and playing together, really rocks his world (And mine too acually) currently we are playing Transport Tycoon Delux LocoMania, Zoo Tycoon, Astro Creeps and Ufo Pilot 2.. all great games for kids (Well acually.. the running burning men in Ufo Pilot 2 is a bit much.. but lets just say he now has a healthy respect for fire.. and dont want his pants to chatch fire Smiling )

Tabu!

Great to hear you like the games! I am currently working on a big update for UfoPilot 2, which will include new modes of play.

I have been thinking about the whole "burning guys" thing, and yes I agree it can be a bit much. I will add an option to turn that off, which will of course make the game easier (not possible to fail a level as long as you have lives left), but I think that should be an option anyway, not least for concerned parents Smiling

Laughing out loud I'll discuss this method of parenting with my wife.

and the hUb should definitely remember it's size.
