New ship gfx and multiple formations

The ship graphics has got an overhaul by a real graphics artist (no more programmers art :cry: )

However, the biggest news is however multiple enemy formations. I think this added another level of intensity to the game and it is totally unbalanced now.

So I had equip the ship with the first weaponupgrade from the start.

I'm now thinking about adding some more interesting shooting behaviours. Currently there is only two:
1. Shots fired at the player
2. Shots spewed out in a circular pattern.

I have a few ideas for other things but as always I'm open for suggestions so feel free to tell me your ideas!

Very fun game. I play it a bit now and then. Nice with the new ship graphics, although I kind of liked the old one too =)

I think you should make some more hit points on the boss. . Usually the boss dies before he even manage to do the beam. And the enemies that shoot in bullets in a circle is very hard(impossible to dodge if they come 3-4 at once?), perhaps these enemies should show up a bit later into the game. But anyway I guess you are going to do a lot of balancing later.

Also, as discussed in the other thread I think randomness should be removed. Perhaps keep randomness on where the enemies spawn but not on what you get as reward when killing them. Now it feels like it is just luck that makes you get on the high score list. If you get a few weapon upgrades in the start and a lot of shields then you get very far and if you don’t get too many circle shooters at the same time.

Another feature I think could be quite nice is to have missiles as reward, shooting them with second mouse button or something. The missiles could do some area damage, killing multiple enemies or just do more damage. They should be quite rare though so that you save them for more challenging situations, perhaps they could drop from the “bonus event” that comes after the boss if you manage to kill all of them.

I totally agree!

The bosses are now mostly "phew nice with an easy boss fight" Sticking out tongue

I'm also thinking about making the weapon upgrade more linear as you progress in the game. This will make balancing a lot easier since I can know what weapon the user has when he gets a certain enemy.

I have been thinking of adding homing missiles as a weapon upgrade, but maybe a more powerfull missile/rocket/beam/smartbomb should be available too, as it would be interesting to have the choice to fire them or not.

Thnx for the feed, it really means alot to know that someone is playing the game.
